A Praying Life

How many times have I said, "I know I need to pray more, but........."?  More times than I can count.  Those minutes that were supposed to be devoted to prayer can quickly be lost to the newspaper, the internet, SportsCenter, getting kids ready for school,  chasing the dog, a few extra minutes of sleep, planning the day...... the list is endless.

A Praying Life is a new book by Paul Miller that is both honest and helpful - one of  the best books I've read on prayer.  I'll just give you one insight that I've gained through reading the book - I can't change my kids simply through my words, but God can change their hearts.  Miller says that some of his best parenting has been through prayer.  If my children are going to grow in grace, God has got to be at work in their hearts.  If that's not a reason to pray, I don't know what is.  This is an incredibly helpful book - one friend said that reading it was a "bit like looking in the mirror."  But don't take my word for it, read the review below to find out more.
